Aneela Kin Rit aka Aneela is a recurring character appearing in Season 2, Season 3 and Season 4 of Killjoys.

She is portrayed by actress Hannah John-Kamen and by Jordana Blake as a child.

Biography

Aneela is the daughter of Khlyen and the prisoner of the Hullen. Khlyen called her Neely as a child and took her with him when he left Qresh to colonize Arkyn.[1] When Khlyen discovered the Green Plasma, she was one of the first to be infected. Unfortunately, she was young and her prefrontal cortex was still growing. While she survived the physical transformation and gained the strength and regeneration abilities, she became insane. She leads the Hullen from her space cruiser, going from system to system as she takes control.

The Birth of Dutch

Birth of Yala

Birth of Yala (Dutch)

During the early days of the Hullen transformation, Khlyen kept Aneela locked away in a Safehouse Cube to protect her. Aneela was lonely though and used the Green Plasma from her body, along with her DNA and that of Khlyen, to create and give birth to Dutch. When she told Khlyen, he removed Aneela's memories of the event and eventually placed them in The Remnant in order to protect her from The Lady. He was going to kill young Dutch but she reminded him so much of Aneela as a child that he could not do it, and began to train her instead.[2]

Development of the Red 17 Process

Aneela established a laboratory on Arkyn, a source of the Green Plasma, and began to experiment with the process of creating more Hullen. The initial group of individuals that bonded with the green plasma retained some autonomy, some sense of self. Aneela and her followers developed the Red 17 experiments to increase the bond, to turn the infected into slaves.[3]

Scarback Monks

The Scarbacks realized what Aneela and the Red 17 process was and travelled to Arkyn to fight her.[4] They called her Pra-tal, "The Devil" in Old Word. They were unsuccessful in stopping her although one monk was able to steal one of Aneela's trees and get away. She used the other monks as experimentation subjects in her lab.
