The Company
Company Security Forces Still Episode 1 001
Information Company Security Forces

Background[]

“The Company” is a massive corporation that operates within the Quad and controls the industry, land and mining rights, as well as many other aspects of commerce in the system. “The Nine”, the families that control the Company, have their own objectives and manipulate the system’s political organization to their advantage. While technically separate from local government, Company operations are so infused within The Quad that it is difficult to tell where the Company ends and Government begins.[1]

Ownership[]

The Company is controlled by Qresh's land owning nobility, each Qreshi landowner has Company shares proportionate to their land holdings on Qresh. The largest shareholders are the heads of the Nine Families of Qresh who own the vast majority of Qresh's ancestral lands.[2]

Company Security Forces[]

The Company has a massive security and border patrol force, enforces its own contract law, and maintains a prison facility on Westerley. Company ships interdict unauthorized ships attempting to land on the worlds of the Quad[3], perform defoliation bombing of Jakk fields[4], and execute punitive bombing missions against enemies of the Company and the Nine.[5][6]

Security officers wear lapel pins on their uniforms, which apparently are used to denote their rankings. Hills Oonan wears two pins, while Liam Jelco wears three.

Company Security Personnel[]

Westerley[]

It owns Westerley, one of the system’s moons. Company Security forces patrol the cities and towns on Westerley and can impose curfews on their inhabitants. The Company has executed punitive bombing missions against cities, such as Sugar Point and Old Town, for not following company laws.

Presence outside the Quad[]

The Company also has some presence outside The Quad, operating the interstellar Slaver Ship Arcturus, which runs a circuit around the J Star Cluster.[7]

Trivia[]

  • The uniforms of Liam Jelco and his security forces use a variant of the standard Company security forces logo, which resembles a stylized bird rather than the more commonly seen four-pointed star. This variant is also seen on several computer screens inside Spring Hill.
