Tunnel Rat is the name given to the population of homeless people who live beneath Old Town in the extensive complex of underground tunnels that once provided access to the old mines under the town. These people do not have the work papers needed to live on Westerley legally, so they live in the tunnels doing whatever they can to survive.
Their leader is the Rat King.
Alvis Akari grew up as a tunnel rat and a miner.
